VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic has an immediate opening for highly experienced Hospital Administrator to join our outstanding team of veterinary professionals. VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic is a well-established, AAHA-accredited, 24-Hour General, Emergency and Specialty Hospital.
VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic is a referral center, primary care facility and teaching hospital with 24-hour emergency service. We have a staff of 30+ doctors, 4 interns, and 130+ support staff with specialists in internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, oncology, radiology, and behavior. This large hospital encompasses a surgery center with 4 state-of-the-art surgery suites, including suites dedicated to orthopedic and minimally invasive surgery. The hospital has 17 examination rooms, CT, Fluoroscopy, and a medical oncology suite.
VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic is nested on approximately 9 acres of oak-studded pastoral land in Loomis, CA, a small community 25 miles northeast of Sacramento. We boast some of the best schools in the state, some of the safest places to raise a family and an outstanding quality of life. Loomis is located in Northern California at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The area abounds with recreational and cultural opportunities and is within an easy drive to ski resorts, trails for hiking, mountain bike or horseback riding, lakes and rivers, and the cities of Sacramento and San Francisco.
The Hospital Administrator –– under the guidance of the Regional Management team and in partnership with the Medical Director –– performs a wide range of administrative activities related to the practice.
The Hospital Administrator must believe in a team concept of management, valuing the opinion of staff and co-managers to create a culture of superior client service and patient care. This includes: mentoring the staff and overseeing the business operations and maintenance of the facility; ensuring the business growth and profitability of the practice; and supporting the hospital’s mission of delivering high quality patient care and exceptional client service.
The Hospital Administrator must have an above average knowledge of financial statement analysis and be very familiar with all HR compliance regulations. The Administrator must be “hands-on” and be willing to adjust responsibilities as the hospital staff, culture and client expectations change. Above all, the goal of the administrator is to work with the management team and Doctors to insure the highest quality medicine for our patients and a work environment that encourages employee growth.
Direct and develop the veterinary, technical and administrative staff towards the goal of quality patient care and excellent client service; assist in the formulation of objectives and policies to ensure efficient and profitable hospital operations.
Oversee the hiring, reviewing, disciplining and terminating of professional staff, in accordance with and with the approval of the Regional Management team.
Build and maintain relationships with referral hospitals and community partners.
Develop, execute and oversee an annual marketing plan for the hospital.
Review the P&L Report monthly and partner with the Hospital Medical Director to increase revenue and limit expenses; work with home office to prepare and submit the yearly budget (budget forecast, operating plan, cap-ex expenditures) and participate in the evaluation process with Regional Management team.
Model an “owner” mentality in hospital by demonstrating a willingness to assist all employees in making the practice a success; invest the necessary amount of time to accomplish the required responsibilities and ensure the smooth operation of the hospital.
Positively represent the hospital and VCA in the professional community and to the general public.
