Technical skills: Applicant must have experience and be capable of collecting blood samples via jugular and peripheral veinipuncture, and placement of at least cephalic IV catheters in both cats and dogs of all sizes. Other skills: working independently and leading the technical support team to : obtain digital full body x rays, assist in surgery, run in house blood, fecal and urine tests, handle both cats and dogs of all sizes and attitudes following our gentle, low stress handling protocols, follow Dr's oders for patient care and client communication, work with clients on the phone and in examination rooms.
Experience with obtaining dental oral xrays a plus.
General office skills: Applicant should be skilled at working with windows operating system / and experienced with data entry using veterinary software (Avimark experience a plus). We are paperless. Applicant will need the ability to type while talking to clients on the phone, and at the same time move within the practice management software. Must be detail oriented and able to multitask, and follow established hospital protocols.
Position will involve all tasks required to assist in the day to day case management and hospital upkeep that pertains to mostly out patient appointments, and a small number of surgical / dental cases per day. Must be experienced, this is not an entry level position. Registered technician ideal but is not necessary.
Applicant must have a professional mature attitude and good work ethic, be both a people and pet person who is kind and caring, honest, energetic, dependable and always gentle with animal handling techniques; (familiarity with Fear Free Veterinary Visits and Cat Friendly Hospital protocols a huge plus).
Some College education preferred but those currently enrolled in daytime courses need not apply. Must have availability to work weekdays between the hours of 8am and 7pm, Saturdays 8 am to 1pm - specific schedule to be determined.
