Animal Hospital of Las Cruces would like to add a FT (PT considered), associate veterinarian to join our busy, AAHA-accredited, small animal practice. New and recent graduates are welcome to apply, as well as experienced veterinarians. We are seeking an associate interested in long-term employment, and our low turnover is a testament to our favorable working environment and the quality lifestyle that Las Cruces has to offer. Our ideal candidate should have a strong interest in general surgery with a desire to assume or develop proficiency with a large surgical caseload as their skill and experience progress. Interest or experience in ultrasound would be another skill-set we would like to incorporate into our practice.
Currently we have three full-time and two part-time veterinarians, all with several years to decades of experience. Our busy caseload along with our experienced veterinary staff provides an ideal environment to grow and gain knowledge rapidly within a safe, mentoring environment. Candidates should expect to learn to juggle multiple cases simultaneously and work at a rapid pace. Work schedules average 40-45 hours per week with regular days off during the week and rotating Saturdays off between associates. Out of hours emergencies are directed to an emergency facility so no “on call” duty is required, although care of hospitalized patients is required on weekends on a rotating basis.
Our 4500 sq. ft. facility is clean and spacious, and organized for efficient patient flow with five exam rooms in use. Our pharmacy and lab is well stocked and equipped to allow rapid acquisition of medications and laboratory information in house. Diagnostic tools include microscopy, CBC, chemistries, ELISA testing, clotting times, digital radiography, endoscopy, digital dental radiography, high speed dental handpiece/polisher, and we have plans to add ultrasound in the near future. An open and spacious treatment and ICU makes for an effective and efficient work center in the back of the facility. Our dedicated surgical suite is spacious, open and well equipped. An experienced staff allows doctors to concentrate on diagnosis and treatment plans while they perform all necessary adjunctive procedures such as phlebotomy, catheterization, lab testing, radiographs and patient treatments.
Our clientele is diverse, friendly, and a pleasure to serve. Along with their pets, they make coming to work an enjoyable experience. If you have a positive life view and enjoy interaction with the wonderful humans that bring their pets to us, we may be an ideal fit for you. We love animals just like anyone, but it’s our client relationships that are the foundation of our practice. A high level of client service along with a commitment to quality patient care is what we strive for on a consistent basis.
Compensation package will be competitive and based on experience: Base salary (with option for production bonus for an experienced veterinarian), liability insurance, NMVMA and AVMA dues, all state and federal license fees, allowance for continuing education, and moving/signing bonus.
