General Job Description: Entrepreneurial DVM who is interested in working alongside an experienced practice owner and DVM with the potential of sharing in profits and in the longer term, ownership of the practice. This is a full time position including evenings, Saturdays, appointments and surgery Available patient and client schedule to be divided evenly between Dr. Foster and the full time DVM without a significant overlap of hours
Qualifications for the Position:
Education: DVM from a recognized school of veterinary medicine MA State Veterinary License with documentation of required CE for 2016/17
Experience: Previous experience working as a DVM Demonstrated leadership skills Ability to work with a diverse workforce Business acumen
Other: Entrepreneurial thinking and the ability to see the big picture, assess steps that will increase success of the practice, solve problems in a proactive manner, and focus on continuous improvement Resourcefulness and the ability to come up with creative or alternative solutions as needed Adaptability and the ability to assess the situation and change course based on achieving the best results with an individual, patient, or a situation Endurance and a focus on the long term Professional approach to working with people and patients at all times Dedicated to providing the best medical care and patient/client relations possible Independent worker able to take personal responsibility as well as delegate when and how appropriate to best serve the needs of the patients and the practice Reliable and dependable at all times and in all things related to the practice Confident in own ability to perform at the highest levels; knowing when to ask for help or to do research to provide the best solutions Excellence in solving problems of all kinds and levels of complexity Understanding the scope of authority and when to confer with and/or defer to the practice owner
Major Duties and Responsibilities: Well rounded general practitioner of Veterinary medicine to include: Internal Medicine, Surgery, Dentistry and Wellness Care Assess patient and client needs Make recommendations to clients based on needs, experience and expertise Follow up and follow through on specific client/patient needs Ensure accurate and timely record keeping and documentation of treatments prescribed and issues identified Stay current in the field of veterinary medicine, procedures, prescriptions and best practices Cultivate long term client/patient relationships Provide high quality medical care as needed Foster positive staff relations with a diverse workforce Demonstrate leadership Focus on ongoing development as a DVM and for the staff Prioritize efficiency and efficacy of treatment Bring entrepreneurial drive and work to develop the business Give and receive direction in a professional, respectful and open manner
Additional Salary Information: $50 per hour (annualized to $96,000 based on 40 hours per week for 48 weeks) plus potential for approximately $10,000 bonus and $14,000 in benefits and fees.

Shepherd Veterinary Clinic is located near I-495 and Rt. 111 in Boxborough, Massachusetts. This location is within 40 minutes of Boston. ... minute appointments. SVC has both body and digital radiology equipment. A fully equipped surgery allows an experienced surgeon to perform a wide variety of surgical and dental procedures.
Support staff levels include reception, technician assistants, and CVT technicians. Ultrasound is schedule on site by outside service. We are centrally located to a number of high quality referral hospitals and emergency clinics.
