Under direction from the Director of Veterinary Services, performs a wide range of difficult to complex administrative activities related to the Vet Center providing quality patient care and excellent client service, management of finances and accounting, marketing and promotion of services and staffing that serve to support effective business operations.
In conjunction with Human Resources, administer personnel management related tasks including interviewing prospective employees, scheduling, disciplining and staff development
Perform periodic and annual performance evaluations in accordance with AHS policies
Monitor employee competence and effectiveness.
Ensure that employees are in compliance with operational personnel policies
Organize and conduct routine staff meetings
Communicate pertinent information to staff and management
Manage marketing as related to Vet Center operations and programs
Demonstrate and support the highest level of client service
Oversee client flow to ensure that clients and patients are seen and treated in a professional, timely and competent manner
Responsible for administration and review of non-medical client complaints
Oversee call back system
Modify and update systems and procedures wherever needed to better serve clients, patients, employees and the organization
Ability to take information obtained from clients, staff and other sources, discern that which is credible and assess the Vet Center and its operation objectively
Oversee the maintenance/housekeeping of the Vet Center for orderliness and cleanliness of both the inside and outside of the facility
Oversee facility and equipment maintenance and repairs; navigate web based facilities management software; maintain equipment maintenance logs
Ensure compliance with the rule and regulations of relevant state, federal, and other governing bodies including AAHA, OSHA, DEA, and the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine.
Ensure that AHS safety procedures are implemented and followed at all times
Identifies, recommends, and implements practice needs: staffing, services, equipment and facilities
Work with the leadership team to develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures and implement strategic initiatives to grow the Veterinary Center.

Financial budget preparation and management
Authorized to purchase up to $1,000/order
Authorized to make repair decisions up to $1000/repair
Oversee collections, billing, and calculation of any discounts
Perform transaction corrections
Make bank deposits
Review all transactions to ensure accuracy through daily audits
Responsible for cash control in hospital
Review accounts receivable to confirm proper and timely process
Monitor the cost of purchasing and all expenditures to ensure operations remain within budget
Review the income statements and other financial data to find ways to improve revenues and hospital contribution.
Handle Vet Center funds in accordance with established verbal and written organization guidelines
Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar operations management capacity, with profit and loss responsibility, in a veterinary hospital
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field preferred
Training and client relations experience preferred
Demonstrate leadership and motivational skills; work cooperatively with others
Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once and deal with high levels of stress in an environment of changing priorities
Detail oriented; ability to plan, organize and effectively present ideas and concepts
Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
Must be able to operate hospital equipment such as laboratory equipment, radiology equipment and office equipment such as facsimile machines, computers, copiers
Must be willing to work extended or irregular and weekend hours as necessary to support hospital operations
Performs work in an office setting
Potentially subject to animal bites and scratches
Frequent walking, standing, bending and stooping
Must be able to handle, restrain and lift large animals
Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50lbs, with reasonable accommodations
