We are seeking a part time or full time Associate Veterinarian to join our two doctor practice. Experienced doctors, as well as confident new grads, are welcome to apply! Our hospital provides services including, but not limited to, preventative care, soft-tissue surgery (laser and non), an in-house full diagnostic laboratory, chronic disease management, digital radiology, and dental care, with the option to expand into fields such as ultrasound, laser therapy, rehabilitation, behavior, and clinical trials. You will also have the opportunity to work with local shelters and rescue organizations. Job Responsibilities Medical and Surgical Responsibilities - Assist medical director in defining standards of care for medical, surgical and dental procedures.
- Examine patients during outpatient appointments. Perform appropriate wellness and diagnostic procedures and treat appropriate medical issues.
- Manage inpatient medical and surgical cases in accordance with hospital standards.
- Provide emergency medical care when indicated.
- Keep detailed, accurate medical records and communicate effectively with clients.
- Participate in relevant continuing medical education.
Healthcare Team Management - Supervise and work closely with the veterinary technicians to provide excellent patient care. Develop training programs and continuing education to improve their job skills.
- Work with the Client Care Team to improve client communication and satisfaction. Develop training programs to enhance computer software use to provide a high level of customer service.
- Be accessible and cooperative with the staff while maintaining an appropriate professional relationship with them.
Business Management - Work to understand the financial goals of the hospital.
- Help the practice owners and the medical director develop strategies to improve the productivity of the business.
- Set productivity standards for the hospital and strive to attain them.
- Participate in continuing education to enhance business knowledge and understand the principles of veterinary hospital economics.
Client Relations - Communicate compassionately and effectively with clients. Present all treatment options and help clients make informed decisions based on the medical facts. Alternative treatment plans must be developed in cases with financial constraints. Always be sensitive to the emotional needs of the clients.
- Be a role model for the staff in effective client communication and establishing long-term professional relationships with clients.
- Help develop programs to attract and retain new clients.
Marketing and Leadership - Be an ambassador for the hospital. Participate in community activities which involve pets and veterinary medicine.
- Be active in professional organizations which promote veterinary medicine.
- Participate and play an active role in staff meetings and hospital activities.
- Promote the development of a positive work environment by being professional, enthusiastic and striving to develop an atmosphere of teamwork where all members are respected and valued.
Qualifications - D.V.M. or V.M.D. degree
- Must hold current Pennsylvania license
