Duties revolve around the day to day running of the College Park Spay/Neuter clinic. Including hands on running of front desk and assisting in the surgery room when needed. Oversee staff and make sure organizational policies and procedures are followed, including providing excellent customer service and professional behavior at all times. Handle disciplinary action as needed, termination must be approved by Director. Handle ordering and inventory of supplies for facility. Maintain surgery schedule to the proper capacity. Be willing to cross train at other facilities within the organization and schedule staff for cross training as well.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Assist any visitor to the best of your ability or connect them with an appropriate staff member that can continue to assist them
Assist any animal in need by cleaning enclosure, seeking medical attention or alerting nearby staff member immediately.
Make sure all walk ways, rooms and enclosures are free of trash, fecal matter or any other items while walking through the facility.
Prepare tech schedule to meet needs, 3 for 1 doctor, 4 for 2 doctors
Schedule relief vets when needed to cover vacation/sick leave or heavier surgery days
Schedule vets and techs for vaccine clinics
Handle check in and check out day making sure all staff participates
Perform walk throughs to check on post-surgery animals and require techs to also perform post op animal rounds to ensure all are recovering properly
Maintain surgery schedule close to full capacity of 30 per doctor per day.
Manage vaccine clinics
Attend and schedule staff for the 4 Healthy Pets events each year
Input animal in software system and monitor animal inventory daily to ensure all animals are accounted for a receiving care requested.
Monitor facility and surgical flow to ensure that all daily operations are being done properly, efficiently and in a manner that lends us to handle the highest number of animals possible
Filling absences in clinic with other staff or cover that absence yourself
Work with Director on supply inventory and ordering supplies, assist in keeping operations costs down by using supplies efficiently and always looking for best price products for our needs
Place orders for supplies as needed and maintain supply
Prepare deposits and financial reports daily
Make sure deposits are made regularly
Handle training for new hires
Make sure staff participates in cross training as requires at other facilities
Participate in cross training when required
Report staffing and disciplinary issues or actions to Director.
Work with Director on any new procedures or ideas to improve operations or animal care
Prepare check off lists and tools to ensure that all procedures are being followed by staff
In addition to the duties all staff members are to for providing a positive visitor experience to anyone that enters our facility. Alerting the Director if a visitor is unhappy or needs assistance outside what you or other staff members can readily provide.
Additional duties as assigned
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
At least 2 years training experience and 2 years clinic experience
Firm understanding of the mission of LifeLine and lifesaving effort
Must be able to handle fractious animals
Ability to interact with dogs, cats and other animals including vicious, stray, sick or injured animals. Ability to handle seeing and dealing with animals that have been abused, neglected or treated cruelly.
Must have experience in medical intake exam, administering vaccines and other preventative medications.
Must have experience in providing medications as prescribed by medical staff
Must be able to work weekends and evenings.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must be able to read and interpret written directions. Must be able to communicate effectively to the public and provide good customer service skills.
Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written or verbal form and to follow those instructions correctly. Maintain an open and nonjudgmental approach and attitude when dealing with pet owners and the community in general
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Drivers license may be required.
While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to outdoor temps years round, will be working in possibly high crime areas. May be exposed to debris and other obstacles. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and must wear protective gear as needed. May encounter emotional people and be able to diffuse or comfort when needed. May have to handle dogs and cats that are stray, injured, diseased or vicious. May also be exposed to animal carcasses.
