The clinic's hoursare 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday and 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday. No after-hours emergency calls or duties required. No overnight boarding. Therefore, no attending to boarding patients during the holidays or weekends. Typically, every other Saturday off. Clinic is closed on Sundays - Work-life balance!! Hooray!! The Veterinary Assistant plays a pivotal role in the overall pet companion experience. This position calls for an individual who is attentive, resourceful, resilient, organized, and courteous. The Assistant must maintain composure and a pleasant demeanor while multi-tasking and, at times, dealing with stressful situations. There’s ample opportunity for professional growth and development. Family Tree Animal Clinic (FTAC), is a state-of-the-art canine and feline-exclusive general practice. We operate in a paperless environment, offering services to our clients such as in-house diagnostics, surgery, dental procedures, digital whole body x-ray, digital dental x-ray and ultrasound – to name a few. We strive to strengthen the human-animal bond by consistently providing unmatched care to all pet companions and their families in the community in which we serve, while upholding the gold standard of veterinary medicine. Our hospital should be AAHA certificated in 2020. Duties include (but are not limited to): - Assist the veterinarian in the exam room by reviewing patient medical records/notes to discern the nature of the visit and suggest any necessary tests or procedures, restraining the animal, preparing forms, locating and sterilizing instruments, preparing patients for procedures, collecting lab samples, taking radiographs, preparing medications/vaccines, filling and dispensing prescriptions as directed by veterinarian, electronically documenting history and examination findings.
- Perform the full range of “tableside” assistance during treatments and medical, dental, or surgical procedures.
- Communicate with clients regarding the medical status of their pet, how to care for their pets after discharge from the hospital, how to administer medications, etc.
- Provide accurate information to clients concerning fees, hospital policies and procedures, medications, etc. in accordance with hospital culture
- Appointment scheduling and data entry
- Processing payments
- Collaborating with Team Members to facilitate the efficient and effective running of the hospital
- Maintain upkeep of treatment, lab, and pharmacy area.
