Opening for a full time mixed animal veterinarian in a busy 3-4 veterinarian practice in rural southeast Utah. Our clinic has digital radiograph, ultrasound, 3M dental station, cold therapy treatment and surgery lasers, endoscope, bone plating and pinning equipment, and 3 mobile units for outside calls. We also have a mobile trailer that we take to small communities in the area for spay/neuter clinics and other veterinary care procedures. We have just remodeled our clinic and have added and additional surgery/treatment suite.
The area that the practice covers includes southeast Utah and southwest Colorado. We expect veterinarians in our practice to be willing to work on about every kind of animal from pocket to large. The practice is about 70% small animal, 25% bovine and 5% equine. We are a rural area listed as a shortage area if you are interested in applying for the VMLRP program.
Our regular hours are 8-6 Monday-Friday and 8-5 on Saturdays. The pay schedule is based on a 40 hour week but doctors are scheduled to work either 32 or 36 hours with the extra time being used up on inputting medical notes and appointments that take extra time. We also try to be flexible so that if time off is needed for something not on a day off it can be arranged. Some early or late travel is expected when traveling to outlying ranches. We also handle emergency cases 24/7 with the responsibility being shared by all the veterinarians. We compensate the veterinarian for the emergencies with receiving 50% of the services rendered fees. Starting Salary is $60,000.00/yr or more depending on experience.
Benefits include paying for Utah and Colorado licences, liability insurance, continuing ed classes, $250.00 toward health insurance costs and 2 weeks paid vacation. We believe in giving quality service without making it hard on people to financially handle taking care of their pets.
Moab Utah is an unbelievably beautiful place with many opportunities to explore the area. It is known as the bicycling capital of the world. We have 4 national parks within easy travel distance. The Colorado River is on our doorstep with the many recreational opportunities this adds to the community. The LaSal mountain range is also right at our doorstep if you prefer mountains to desert.
