The mission of First Coast No More Homeless Pets is to make veterinary care affordable and accessible to all as we save lives by keeping dogs and cats in homes and out of shelters, provide low-cost spay/neuter services with emphasis on feral/community cats, and deliver a broad range of related programs and services.

Scope and Purpose

The role of the veterinary technician supervisor is to lead a team of vet techs who provide exceptional patient care and customer service in a fast paced, high volume atmosphere. We serve nearly 100,000 dogs and cats, and the people who love them, each year across our region and this leadership opportunity presents a unique and rewarding career experience.  A primary function of the veterinary technician supervisor is to provide continuity and operational support across all shifts, ensuring that our safety net veterinary hospital has onsite leadership to support employees and the caseload of clients seeking affordable veterinary care. The veterinary technician supervisor will work closely with the practice manager to help support a team of 20 veterinarians, while maximizing productivity and improving the client and patient experience. 

Major Duties

• Promote positive teamwork while delivering the FCNMHP life-saving mission.
• Effective leadership and supervision of a large team of veterinary technicians.
• Oversight of the veterinary technician teams, including the ability to promote effective time management and compassionate care.
• Lead by example in setting standards of performance that motivates the entire team and keeps the hospital running smoothly. Active management of appointment and walk- in visits to support high levels of service delivery.
• Ensure veterinary technician schedule aligns with the needs of the hospital while being able to fill in to support the team as needed.
• “Real time” instruction and assistance for the medical teams to help develop skills and increase knowledge.
• Maintain medical supply inventory while adhering to budget.
• Build positive working relationships between team members and act as a liaison between the DVMs and technicians.
