| Adana Veterinary Clinic is looking to hire a doctor with 2 or more years of experience in small animal medicine and surgery. Join a small, well managed, high quality practice with great staff in a semi-rural setting just 10 miles from Cornell in the Finger Lakes region. This is a wonderful, idyllic area with endless outdoor opportunities as well access the many cultural activities of Ithaca and surrounding communities. It is important for us to find a great fit for our practice and clientele. The right candidate understands and enjoys the benefits of the close bonds created in a small community practice. Our new doctor is comfortable working independently or as the sole doctor, and possesses common sense as well as business sense. She/he should be value and utilize great communication with clients as well as staff. Practicing excellent medicine and having great animal handling skills should be a given. An interest in and desire for practice ownership is a plus as buy-in potential exists for the right match. This is a well-equipped 3,000 sq.ft small animal practice, designed by the owner and built from scratch in 2004. The beautiful building has a warm, welcoming interior, lots of natural light, and the practice focus is on excellent client care and communication. We schedule 25 to 30 minutes per appointment and see dogs and cats primarily (55:40) as well as furry exotics (5% or less). Our facility has 2 exams rooms, a comfort room (conveniently located by a side exit), separate waiting areas for cats and dogs, and a large treatment and pharmacy area. The dental suite (compressor and high-speed drill) includes digital radiology. The surgical suite uses ADS delivery system for isoflurane. We also have a full in-house Idexx lab (Catalyst and ProCyte). Our digital CR radiology area upgraded in 2019 to a new high-frequency exposure unit; a small ultrasound unit is used for diagnostic, abdominal scans (submitted digitally for interpretation) and for brief in-house ultrasound scans. We have firmly embraced the use of Class IV therapeutic laser since 2008, currently using our updated version, a Companion CTX-15 laser purchased in 2017. Adana is a Certified Feline Friendly practice; we take pride excelling in kind and calm feline handling. When the practice was built in 2004; special attention was given to allow certain accommodations to felines: In addition to a separate waiting area and an exam room for cats only, Adana has the distinction of being the only cat exclusive veterinary boarding facility in the Southern Tier. We do see most furry exotics (rabbits, guineapigs, chinchillas and other rodents as well as ferrets) but would embrace a DVM with interest and comfort level in birds, reptiles and snakes as well as the aforementioned furry friends. This is essentially a FT position, with some degree of flexibility, open to 32-38 hours/week. It will include working every 4th Saturday morning and being on call those weekends, at least by phone for our clients. True emergencies are typically referred to a 24-hour facility in the area.
