Sigman Veterinary Clinic is seeking a full time veterinary assistant to join our team. We are looking for a reliable, dependable, and compassionate person who is capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast paced environment. Working alternating Saturdays will be required. We have a great team with very little turnover.
Day to day care of hospitalized patients, boarders and facility: feeding, watering, walking, cleaning, laundry, bathing, monitoring pets’ general well-being, etc.
Effectively and safely restrain dogs and cats even when large and/or difficult.
Assist doctors and licensed technician in exam rooms, with treatments, and diagnostic procedures such as restraining for exams, blood draws, and catheter placements; taking radiographs, prepping for surgeries, surgical patient monitoring (if experienced), etc.
Run in-house lab equipment (IDEXX). Handle appropriate lab samples (blood, urine, feces, ear cytologies, etc) for in-house testing and reference lab testing.
Dispensing and administering oral medications as directed.
Familiarity with veterinary/medical terms and flea/tick/heartworm preventatives.
Basic knowledge of vaccines and common veterinary procedures.
Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. Will have assistance if lifting/carrying over 50 lbs.
Excellent client communication skills. Ability to maintain a positive attitude and cooperative working relationship with fellow staff members.
Minimum high school graduate.
Previous experience as a veterinary assistant is required!
Salary dependent on experience. Benefits include competitive pay, medical insurance, holiday and sick pay. A 3% matching company contribution to a retirement plan (American Mutual Funds) is available after 1 year of employment.

This 2 doctor practice originally opened in 1975. It has a loyal client base, but due to rapid growth in the surrounding area, new clients/patients are seen daily. The clinic is located in the original brick building in Covington, GA, but has been recently renovated and updated.
