AAHA accredited practice located in Monroe, GA seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. We are a general care veterinary practice treating dogs and cats. We have a hard working and fun team who see the importance of offering compassionate and up to date veterinary care and would like to add individuals who share our vision.
Applicant must be a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) possessing a license in good standing in the State of Georgia. Candidate must possess knowledge of wellness care and vaccines, common illnesses, venipuncture, radiology, parasitology, dentistry, pharmacy and surgery. Duties include: using proper patient holding/restraint techniques, general client communication, obtaining thorough patient history, detailing preventive care and medications to clients, dispensing medications, administering medications, properly positioning patients for radiographs, preparing patients for surgery, assisting in surgery, providing nursing and comfort care for hospitalized and boarded pets, performing treatments, collecting samples (blood/urine/feces), processing laboratory diagnostic tests. Assisting with hospital cleanliness and safety is also required.
Additional Comments: Many of our existing staff are certified in Fear Free® animal care protocols. If the successful candidate is not already certified, they will be required to learn and apply these techniques. Existing Fear Free® certification or experience is a plus! Must learn/know and adhere to AAHA standards and OSHA requirements.
Physical requirements include: sufficient physical strength, mobility, and stamina, the ability to lift and/or move heavy pets and objects (up to 50lbs), bend/kneel throughout the day, and stand for extended periods of time.
Personal requirements include: Must be professional, congenial, accountable, teachable, and punctual. We are seeking a person with a positive attitude and a passion for excellence in animal care.
Hospital hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 7am to 5pm. Thursday 7am-7pm and Saturday 7am-Noon. Full time schedule is typically 35-37 hours per week. Saturday availability is required (typically alternating). Some holiday availability required. Required hours can vary based on client/patient needs.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with experience.
