The Veterinary Technician III, under general supervision, provides for and supervises care and treatment of animals used for teaching in the Veterinary Technology Program. Provides assistance to the professional staff, supervises veterinary technology students in clinical and husbandry techniques, and oversees the maintenance of the physical area within the Veterinary Technology Facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates and supervises activities to ensure that service goals related to teaching, husbandry, and veterinary needs are consistently met.
Oversees maintenance of lab stocks and equipment, supervision of student workers, assurance of quality control in husbandry procedures, feeding, monitoring, and maintenance of animal environments.
Performs personnel management functions including training, supervising, and managing student workers while providing teaching and physical needs of the facility.
Coordinates animal care program activities in accordance with the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and guidance from the facility directors and instructional veterinary staff. Maintains documentation for IACUC and USDA inspection reports and provides responses to inspections.
Establishes and maintains a records system for animal records, facility records, purchases, expenses, and equipment inventory/maintenance. Ensures accurate entry and completion of medical records.
Orders equipment and supplies needed for the facility and assists in other administrative duties including invoice payments and meeting with vendors.
Serves as principle contact to schedule animal use for teaching projects, space, equipment, student worker hours, maintenance, and repairs.
