We are a busy, small animal practice in Florence, Alabama, seeking an associate veterinarian. We have a large client base of active clients from Florence, Tuscumbia, Sheffield, and Muscle Shoals, Alabama, as well as southern Tennessee. Our practice recently moved to a brand-new 6000+ sq foot hospital in March 2020 and continue to see growth.
Fisher-Smith Animal Hospital provides a great opportunity for a new graduate or experienced DVM. We currently have 4 full time equivalent veterinarians and are looking to add an additional full or part time veterinarian to our team. We perform surgery 5 days a week and schedule an average of 5-10 anesthetic procedures daily. We see a variety of cases spanning all disciplines of Veterinary Medicine. We have complete, in-house laboratory facilities, 300 Ma Summit radiography with digital processing, computerized ECG, Ultrasound, therapy laser and computerized record keeping.
The beautiful city of Florence is in the northwest corner of Alabama, 15 miles south of Tennessee and 25 miles east of Mississippi. Larger cities, such as Huntsville, Birmingham, Nashville, and Memphis, are all within approximately 2.5 hours or less of our area. Florence and the Shoals area have a population of 140,000, encompassing large city activities with a small town atmosphere and plenty of Southern hospitality. Located on the beautiful Tennessee River, we have plenty of water activities, including several Bass Tournaments during the year. The many cultural activities scheduled for the year include the Helen Keller Festival, the W. C. Handy Festival, Arts Alive, the Trail of Tears in nearby Waterloo, and many theater productions and musical events. Recreation events include baseball, softball, soccer, golf, and many walking trails, including several nature trails maintained by the Tennessee Valley Authority, our public power producer. A Robert Trent Jones Golf Course is also located in the area. Educational institutions include the University of North Alabama, a four-year state university, Northwest Shoals Community College, a two-year junior college, and excellent public and private school systems. The Shoals area is a wonderful, safe place to live and raise your family.
