Paws & Claws Veterinary Hospital is a busy, well-equipped small animal general practice with a growing concentration of exotics (birds, small mammals, reptiles, and wildlife), operating in a newly renovated and expanded facility in a nice suburban area northeast of Tallahassee. We are committed to practice high quality medicine, maintaining a positive, upbeat, supportive work environment, fear free modalities, and promotion of the human-animal bond.
The facility has large open spaces, high ceilings, and lots of natural light. In addition to set work stations in treatment areas, doctors have large shared offices in our new addition. Most of our veterinary technicians have several years of experience with us, and we are well-equipped with ultrasound, high resolution digital x-ray, class 4 laser, and in-house lab.
We are open to either a new or recent graduate or an experienced veterinarian--the most important thing is that the candidate share our passion for animal welfare and customer service. We believe in mentoring and are committed to lifelong learning and the professional development of our associate veterinarians. This includes supporting advanced training and development of new practice areas to better serve our clients.
We offer competitive salary, health insurance, a generous retirement plan following vesting, generous CE allotment, and paid licensing, liability coverage, including license defense. Buy-in potential exists as well.
Tallahassee is a great community, with endless opportunities for people and dogs to get outside. We have an award-winning park system, and, within a short driving distance are forests, state parks, a national wildlife refuge, world class beaches, and spring-fed rivers.
Tallahassee is also a great place to raise a family with some of the best public schools in Florida, K-12, located within a five-minute drive of our hospital, and offers the possibility of living in an urban, suburban, or rural area, all within an easy (15-minute) commute.
The ideal candidate should be a positive, upbeat person with strong communication skills that should be able to work in a fast-paced team environment, effectively utilizing staff, and working both independently and collaboratively with other veterinarians on duty.
Hours can be somewhat flexible, and there are no after-hours emergency "on call" hours--emergency facilities and high-quality specialists are located within 15 minutes of our hospital. Duties can be somewhat flexible as well—candidates not comfortable with exotics will not be required to treat exotic patients, candidates not interested in surgery will not be required to perform surgery, etc.
However, we work with several local companion animal rescues, and it is very important to who we are, so ideal candidates should be interested in dedicating some of their time to supporting the community in this way.
Located in northeast Tallahassee, Paws & Claws Veterinary Hospital is a full-service animal hospital dedicated to providing the highest quality customer service and patient care to our clients and their beloved pets. Paws & Claws Veterinary Hospital offers routine and emergency medical, surgical, and dental veterinary care, as well as an in-house pharmacy. We focus on accurate and thorough diagnostics, client education and communication, and above all, compassionate treatment of the animals entrusted to our care.
