Athens Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3), no-kill shelter organized in 1899. We are a community supported shelter on a mission to make high-quality veterinary care, adoption services, and pet health and wellness affordable and accessible for every pet family. AAHS is not affiliated with any other Humane Society or ASPCA. We operate a spay/neuter and vaccination clinic; pet adoption center; humane education programs; pet food pantry, and transport adoptable pets to partner shelters along the East Coast and Midwest. We impose no time limits on how long pets remain at our shelter—a pet remains available for adoption for as long as needed to find a loving home. We provide pets with the level of love and care you would want your own pet to receive. AAHS Society serves 10 counties in Northeast Georgia - Barrow, Clarke, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Oglethorpe, and Walton. Additionally, we provide shelter-to-shelter transport services to 17 countries throughout Georgia.
