Postdoctoral Researcher – Penn Equine Assisted Research Laboratory

A postdoctoral position to design and perform research in equine sperm capacitation, oocyte maturation, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, embryo culture and vitrification, and/or other aspects of equine assisted reproduction. Participate in the research and clinical embryo production procedures in the laboratory. Perform data collation and statistical analyses, prepare abstracts, presentations and research papers. Perform and assist with procedures with horses including transvaginal ultrasound-guided follicle aspiration; organize and maintain mare herd.
Process sperm, utilize staining procedures, perform flow cytometry, CASA, plate reader analyses. Process oocytes and prepare media. Perform transvaginal ultrasound-guided follicle aspiration. Should have some familiarity with procedures for oocyte maturation, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, embryo culture, embryo biopsy, embryo cryopreservation/warming, cell culture, sperm processing, embryo selection and packaging and related techniques. Keep accurate records of work performed. Utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks, record data. Coordinate student help; work cooperatively with others.
